Key Responsibilities
- Identify immediate and long range measures to increase income, reduce household expenditures, and avoid additional financial burdens
- Provide personal budget/financial planning to reduce, eliminate, and avoid debt and to achieve solvency and stability
- Educate Service members and their families on money management techniques to encourage them to live within their means.
- Educate Service members and their families on money management techniques and credit history and ratings
- Teach Service members and their families how to save for emergencies, unanticipated contingencies, and both short and long-term goals
- Teach Service members to make informed decisions and to be aware of associated costs such as insurance, maintenance, fuel costs, etc.
- Promote the enrollment of Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) to Service member
- Assist with tax planning
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree coupled with 2+ years experience in financial counseling or education
- A national certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), or a national certification with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC)
- Valid motor vehicle license.
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Previous military experience (including military spouses and/or as a service provider)
- Ability to travel up to 40% including some weekends with advanced notice
- Ability to facilitate financial workshops and trainings to large groups and ability to tailor presentations to audiences as needed
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities such as:
Working knowledge of military, state, federal, and local resources
- Understanding, sensitivity, and empathy for Service members and their family members
- Ability to develop trusting helping relationships
- Ability to use sound professional judgment, ethical practice
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate financial needs of individuals and families

Position based in Northern Virginia area (NOVA).
Key Responsibilities
- Planning, organizing and developing new PFM curriculum
- Conducting, workshops, briefings and General Military Training (GMT) on financial topics
- Providing individual assessments and referrals for walk-in clients
- Collecting, updating and disseminating up-to-date consumer information
- Assisting CFSs in counseling involving complex cases
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Accounting, or related field coupled with 1 year experience as a Personal Financial Counselor; OR an Associate's Degree coupled with 2 years experience as a Personal Financial Counselor
- National certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) strongly preferred (currently possess, or is qualified to obtain Accredited Financial Counselor certification within 2 years required)
- Knowledge of the formulation and execution of needs assessment tools
- Previous military experience (including military spouses and/or as a service provider)

Demonstrated success in providing one-on-one consultation and training
Strong facilitation skills and knowledge of group dynamics

Knowledge of the tenets of adult education and the development of training curricula based on the adult learning model

Knowledge encompassing a wide range of financial areas, specifically those affecting the military and their families

Ability to work productively with Command Financial Specialists

Knowledge of the personal financial management issues facing service members and their families and the ability to support them with individual assistance or through training in seminars or workshops or through appropriate referral

Consultant/subject matter expert position.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with project managers, website designers, application developers, instructional designers, and graphic designers to ensure that usability and Section 508 compliance are appropriately considered and applied throughout the design, development, and implementation processes.
- Create usability standard documents that meet Section 508 requirements and conduct evaluations of existing and new products against the standards.
- Document findings and make recommendations for usability improvements and track completion of items.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure tools and initiatives are in line with usability standards.
- Provide planning, design, development, and testing of Section 508 activities throughout the development life cycle.
- Provide policy and process support to teams to develop, maintain, and improve compliance with Section 508.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum of three years experience supporting Section 508 compliance for a federal agency or its supporting contractor.
- Thorough understanding of W3C standards of usability.
- Knowledge of 508 accessibility testing techniques.
- Experience with JAWS, PAW, WAT, Narrator, or Common Look preferred.
